about

CPH kids – a fashion fair for children’s clothing and accessories – was founded in 2009 by Lone Holm. The initiative propagated as a response to a continuously stagnating Danish children’s fashion scene and promoted the need to bring a pioneering spirit, openness and creativity into a setting dominated by stringent traditions and a strong monopoly.

CPH kids became a recognized international player, challenging the existing and filling the gap between the predictable and the adventurous while providing a strong, playful and self-renewing platform.

Through its 6 seasons CPH kids managed to attract the most ambitious brands in the industry, along with building strong and lasting relations to the most prestigious media brands in the industry.

Once again it is time to challenge the existing, which is why we decided to shut down the fair. However, the concept of CPH kids is still alive and kicking the ambition of defining the future. Stay tuned.

/ TESTIMONIALS

“I am the Fashion Director of Junior Magazine in the UK and I also have a popular online blog called Smudgetikka.

I travel to most of the European kids fashion trade fairs and I have to say that CPH Kids was one of the most interesting and original kids fashion trade fairs I visited.

The thought that had been made with the layout and additional activities made the fair a special and different experience, the exhibitors were carefully chosen to represent the best of Scandinavian fashion and I knew visiting would always be a pleasant experience which is not the case for many of the others I went to. I always knew I would discover a new designer or label I hadn’t seen before.

In addition the facility to shoot with Danish photographers and models  to have a fashion feature that totally reflected Copenhagen was welcome for both the magazine and the exhibitors at the fair who were very pleased by this innovation and the extra publicity it gave to them.

The press were always made most welcome and treated well by Lone and her press team and the introduction of the fashion shows was an added attraction last season.”

- Linda MClean, Fashion Director of Junior Magazine UK

/ CHARITY

CPH KIDS – FASHION FOR CHARITY

Through our 6 seasons we have been dedicated to help children all over the world.

Together with our exhibitors we have raised more than 550.000 DKK. We did it by selling clothing donated by exhibitors from a Charity Shop at the fair.

Further more we each year chose a specific cause focusing on the CPH kids vision about defining the future doing different kinds of events and activities for and with children.

All proceeds were donated without profit.

Good feeling – good consciousness

When entering the new Pure Baby shop at Falkoner Allé 39 in Frederiksberg, good consciousness gets taken to a whole new level.
Everything you look at is either ecological, fair trade, sustainable or all together!

The shop opened only a few weeks ago and is the second from Pure Baby (the other one can be found on Østerbro).
Spaciousness, light colours and the fantastic wooden floor are keywords in the shop’s careful renovation and design.

The shelves in the windows are in children’s height and are not only used as display but also as shopping shelves, which requires frequent attention of the sales assistants (to clean up after curious shoppers, however that seems to result in extra love and care to the window shelves).

The spaciousness  is intriguing and really invites the shopper to stay and browse longer around the wide range of all good consciousness items.

All wooden toys are FSC certified – meaning sustainability within forestry (giving the forest time and space to regrow trees), animal life and flora are protected and taken care of and the workers are given the right protection and fair payment. All in all a fantastic initiative!

Visit the shop online here.

Live photo shoot at the fair

During the four days of the CPH kids august fair, we had 4 great and renown photographers shooting styles from our exhibitors, put together by our stylist Quinee Balsov.

Below you can see some examples of Timm Vladimir, renown actor and from extensive work in Danish film and television, who was at the fair on Thursday.

His pictures are experimental, contrasting between grainy and sharp, beautiful and always impressive. Timm’s motto is “Life is too short for ugly photos, crosstown traffic, low fat spreads and boring articles.”

Friday, it was Ditte Capion, known from “Model in one day”, where she was scouting for new models. Recently, Ditte has begun to do fashion photographs of children and is driven by a great curiosity within this niche.

“My experience from the fashion series with adults, combined with my patience is a fantastic match to create unique images of children” says Ditte, when she enthusiastically tells about the new world of child pictures she has entered.

Saturday, CPH kids was supposed to be guested by Monika Elena from USA. Unfortunately she couldn’t make it last minute, so instead we were honoured by Piet Simonsen, independent photographer within advertising photography. Below some of his pictures taken at CPH kids Fashion Fair in August 2010.

Last, but not least it was Anders Hald, who guested CPH kids on Sunday. His work with both Danish and International brands has won him many awards. Most recently, he has been included in Lürzer’s Archive “200 best Ad Photographers World Wide 2010/11″. Below are some of his favorite shots from the fair.

Anders focusses very much on getting great perfomances from the children and not so much on digital postproduction. Or as he puts it: “If the children in the images look sincere and real, the images will work. Everyone hates a fake smile.”

It has been great to host these different photographers and see the outcome of their different approach to children photography. An interesting cooperation which CPH kids will continue in the future!

CPH kids’ Social Night – a night to remember

Friday, August 13th 2010, normally not a date, one would choose for a party, but the CPH kids team is not superstitious and it proved to be right – the night was a success!

Almost 300 exhibitors, buyers and other friends of the fashion trade gathered in the cosy athmosphere of TAP1 and the lounge garden.

Anders Honoré supported the fantastic athmosphere with his smooth saxofon tones…

… while DJ’s The Billionaire were spinning records.

Although the weather hadn’t been too good throughout the four days of the fair, the clouds disappeared just in time and the sun was shining on a hungry, thirsty and very content crowd.
Even though the CPH kids Social Night was set to finish at midnight, the last guests were first asked to leave around 2am, where we closed the doors and the party continued in the garden.

CPH kids will also in future host a social gathering and work on evolving the evening to “the” place to be during the Fashion Week.
Thank you to all you who helped making this evening to a fantastic, unforgettable experience!
