Overwhelming success with Fashion for Charity

WOW!
At the charity event 200 visitors had the opportunity to buy clothes from previous collections in the Fashion for Charity shop. The clothes had been donated by exhibitors, and all profits from the entrance fee and sale in the shop has been entirely donated to the Danish organization Børnehjælpsdagen.
The shop was open to professionals all four days, and to the public for two hours on Sunday. The shop sold for a total of 85,000 Danish kroner, and took home christmas gifts for many years ahead!

- It is important for us to show that fashion can make a difference to our society. At the last fair, we sold clothes in the favor of the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. This time our ambition has been to help Børnehjælpsdagen. It’s been inspiring to see how many, both exhibitors and visitors who wanted to back up the initiative, explains Lone Holm.

Creativity in TAP1

During the last month, the artist collective We Do Voodoo have been working behind the scenes of Cph Kids fashion fair creating visual frames for the fair. Large kites, black icons in different actions, neckstraps and a lot of unique signs to guide guests and exhibitors around in the big hall, TAP1.

“It has been great working with so many squaremeters. Creating the scenography in the context of kids”, “A fun challenge, and we are happy about the result” says Carina Juul and Rasmus Vest, the founders of We Do Voodoo.

We Do Voodoo works in all kinds of media, materials and formats. Right now they are finishing the styling and visual identity of PRAG Genbrug – a new big vintage store on Vesterbrogade (opening 17th of August from 17 – 21).

You can meet Rasmus and Carina all days of the fair. Among other things, you can get your hands on unique icon-folies, order your own customized icon, collage or illustration for your shop or home.

First day was a success

At 10 am sharp we opened the doors to the second edition of CPH kids! And we were happy to see so many early birds at the fair.
Even though it has rained pretty much all day, people hang out in the gardens and here at the main entrance.

All of the fantastic donations displayed in the Charity-shop…it looks pretty good when you know that we worked untill long after midnight!

A celebrity visit from actor and singer Søren Bregendahl, who is an ambassador for Børnehjælpsdagen. All proceeds from the charity shop is donated to Børnehjælpsdagen, who is running the shop for us during the fair. Please drop by if you can – there’s still a lot of goodies!

Princesses for a day – charity event

Yesterday these threee little ladies had the time of their life, when CPH kids’ exhibitors Holly’s, Småfolk, Molo and bisgaard gave them a completely new wardrobe.

As a part of the Fashion for Charity initiative CPH kids and Børnehjælpsdagen (Childrens Aid Foundation) arranged a charity event where Sahra, Mitzy and Marie was invited to indulge in their new wardrobe.
“- It’s almost as cool as the time I met the Crown Princess, says Sahra, aged 9. She refers to the time she was chosen as flower girl for Princess Mary’s visit to the Child Welfare Day. Today, Sahra is the princess, even though it’s just for one day.

Designer outfits is something that the three girls do not have access to in their everyday lives. The girls are all living with foster families – like 15,000 other Danish children. And while the girls have wonderful foster families with security and care enough, the money is short when it comes to entertainment and clothing.

The girls were busy for an entire hour trying on new out fits, while their foster moms were trying to keep up with them.

One messy fitting room!

Photographer Timm Vladimir, ambassador for The Childrens Aid Foundation, had the girls posing like real models.
And WOW! they were just so good at posing!

Favorite outfits were chosen. And we heard that the fittings continued at home, with catwalks infront of the rest of the family.

Sahra ready to leave after a fantastic afternoon. As she said, her biggest problem was which outfit to chose next day in school.
Thanks to everyone who made this day happen! And please go to the website of The Childrens Aid Foundation to see how easily your company can help Danish children have their dreams come true – via the Dreambank (Drømmebanken).
You can also support The Childrens Aid Foundation when visiting CPH kids, all proceeds from the Charity Shop will be donated til the organization. So remember to shop a little! (how hard can that be…:-))
Behind the scenes – exhibitor get in
Arghhh we are so close now. Today we opened the doors for our wonderful exhibitors. And we were so happy to see all of them: the ones from last time, some of the new ones coming directly from Iceland, the busy ones who finished their entire booth already, the hard working guys and the ones who brought os candy:-)

When it comes to clothes, you cannot lie to your children!
A column by Maise Njor – Danish bestselling author.

My mother has lied to me. I remembered it the other day when I was talking to my childhood friend Margit. All of a sudden we were talking about when we both took riding lessons, we both had riding boots that were too small, and I guess our mothers had been talking to each other … In any case, both our mothers succeeded in making their daughters believe that the absolute hippest in horse girl fashion was wearing a pair of strange leather slippers on your riding boots. It was in winter, it was cold, and we didn’t have room for ski socks in the boots. So our mothers sewed toe warmers that you could wear outside your riding boots. In sheepskin. Fastened around the heel with underpants elastic.

It was only the other day when I was talking to Margit that we realized that it was in fact strange that we were so much ahead of all other trendsetters at the riding school that they couldn’t keep up with us. Or wanted to … For we must have looked like idiots when we trudged around at the school with a quarter of a sheep on each foot …

But I have also lied to my mother in the name of fashion. It was in the 80s, it was summer, and fashion dictated – right after Wham had seen the light of day, I am sure – that you had to wear very tight white Levi’s. So tight that Levi’s couldn’t keep up … So you had to go to Deres, pay a fortune for your white Levi’s, and then go home and take the legs in. Now, on this particular day it happened that Margit had a very important and exciting story to tell, so I was a bit inattentive when I cut the legs, with the result that when I put on the pants, I looked like someone who had both legs in plaster.

Necessity is, as you know, the mother of invention, and, for the poor schoolgirl, of lying, so now that I had just spent my savings on the pants and couldn’t afford another pair, I decided that I had to get them exchanged.
I didn’t dare to do it myself, so I asked my mother. Without telling her that I had taken in the legs to a size that would fit an earthworm … My excuse was that I needed them one size larger, and not until several years later did I get around to telling her what I had been up to. With the result that she never got anything exchanged for me since … But I guess the score is leveled …
